Self Reflection About The Course
Reflection
During this course, I’ve learned many things and I gained new skills in English, I learned how to summarize and how to “squeeze” the paragraph into a new smaller paragraph that has the main points of the actual paragraph, so it become easier to understand the actual paragraph in smaller period of time. Also I learned how to use Blogger.com where you post blogs for other people to take a look and post comments, and I will post this reflection on Blogger.com. Other than that I also learned how to use bibme.org, it makes referencing easier by putting the URL and then it gives you the information you need and make it as APA style, it makes it easier for the teacher to find out from where I got the information from. Inline citation is also a thing that I learned from this course; I didn’t know that there was such thing, but it made my paragraph look more professional than before. I faced some problems in how to “squeeze”, because I couldn’t understand what the main points are, but now I’ve been practicing with the teacher and my classmates. Other than that problem I always get lost in bibme.org. I’m glad that I choose this course, I’m pretty sure that it would benefit me in the future and makes my English skills really high. I’m hoping that I learn more about the English skills. I thank Mr. Gregory for his co-operation with the students and the class.
Case Study
The Ritz-Carlton
In this report, I will be talking about the Ritz-Carlton hotel, A very luxurious, worldwide known hotel. Ritz-Carlton was founded by César Ritz and August Escoffier a century ago. It has 75 hotels in major cities and resorts in 24 countries.
Ritz-Carlton controls hotels and resorts; the hotel has guestrooms, suites, bars, restaurants, golf fields, services for social celebrations such as a wedding. It was founded in 1983. César Ritz was born in February 23rd 1950, Neiderwald, Switzerland, a hotelier. And he’s colleague August Escoffier, was born on October 28th 1846, Villeneuve-Loubet, France. They’re the founders of many hotels, The Ritz hotel in London, and the hotel Ritz in Paris. César Ritz was called "king of hoteliers, and hotelier to kings,", these two hotels were one of the best in the region. In 1995, the Ritz Carlton merged with Marriot international inc.
At the Ritz Carlton hotels, the employees always use this phrase "We are Ladies and Gentlemen serving Ladies and Gentlemen.", they care about the guests feelings and emotions, because they believe that it’s the best way to serve us as clients, they use the guest’s name in greetings and farewells. Employees build strong relationships between them and guests. Employees respond to every command they receive, and solve any problems they face with the guests. They are proud to be serving us as Ritz Carlton employees. Employees are responsible of cleanliness and safeness of the environment.
Ritz Carlton appears to be a very elegant, luxurious hotel. Their first priority mission is to please their guests in every possible way. Employees are taught lessons in the “lineup” daily for 15 minutes, which means that their trying to maximize their abilities to have a better serving crew, and treating customers like royalty. They care about warm welcomes and goodbyes, they always have a smile on their faces, basically, that what makes them a successful and popular company.
Ritz Carlton goals are to rise the number of Ritz Carlton hotels who certify their key suppliers and to to increase the number of the key suppliers by a specific percentage.
Ritz Carlton has a luxurious, elegant and a neat culture where ladies and gentlemen are serving ladies and gentlemen, that means high quality services for the ladies and gentlemen. This company might have drawbacks where their first priority is the customer and they forget about the cleanliness of the rooms and the lack of physical activities inside the hotel.
The person I think would be happiest and most successful in the Ritz Carlton culture would be a person who visited this hotel for a business purpose. A person who only needs services from the employees and not looking for a physical activity inside the hotel.
Other organizations that can learn from The Ritz Carlton are organizations that mainly about the relationship between the company or the organization and the consumer, such as elegant shops and restaurants.
Ritz Carlton hotel appears to be a perfect company that works to fulfill your desire. In my opinion it happens to be the best hotel business I’ve ever read about. Ritz Carlton employees are trained every day to look up for your wants and needs, that is one of the major thing that a customer would want in a hotel like Ritz Carlton. In the other hand, unfortunately nothing is perfect in this life, I’ll work on discovering that hidden negative side of this company.
Ritz Carlton hotel seems to be an elegant place to work in. I like the idea where they serve customers with the best they could offer. If you treat the customer kindly they are forced to treat you the same. It appears to be a good environment to work in, an enjoyable experience. But of course I won’t be satisfied with the earnings; I’d rather establish a company just like The Ritz Carlton
In conclusion, Ritz Carlton is a successful company that has good foundations and an open minded manager, they have their own method in leading this company, strategies and tactics and objectives. A unique system of leadership to please the customers and making sure that the customer never leaves the hotel without a wide smile on his face.

Summary 1
A bright idea within reach
Fuel is infinite but the sun will not disappear for thousands of years. In the UAE, solar panels are used on parking meters. Solar panels are used on hotels and office block; they are for heating water systems. Environmentalists and dealers feel like they can do better in this section.
Dealers mostly import and export solar products because the market is so small in the country.
Solar energy has no side effects on the environment, in the other hand it has a long lifetime.
Al Marashi pointed out that it would be better to develop the systems of the solar energy to the next generations and change it to domestic use.
Essay 1
Facebook
Facebook is a social networking service and web site that was founded by Mark Zuckerberg and his students who were studying computer science in 2004. In this essay I will be talking about it’s founder’s life, history and goals of the world’s number one social networking web site.
Mark Elliot Zuckerberg was born in May 14, 1984 in White Plains, New York. Zuckerberg started using computers in middle school, he was taught Atari Basics Programming by his father; Mark took a course in Atari Basics Programming while he was in high school at Mercy College. By the time that he started attending classes at Harvard, he made a website with pictures of students in the university, he called it “Facemash”, basically it was a site that he used to put pictures of students at the university, and they had to vote “hot or not”. According to his roommate “he built it for fun” (Mark Zuckerberg, Wikipedia, 2011). The site stayed on for almost a week then it was shut down by the university administration. It was shut down because of its popularity also students couldn’t access the Internet; some students started complaining that their photos were being used in the site without their permission.
Zuckerberg started Facebook from his dorm room in the year 2004; students were able to list some important things that could help them connect with each other. Facebook started off as a “Harvard thing” until its founder decided to spread it to other schools that had connections with Harvard.
Zuckerberg moved to Palo Alto, California with his friends in 2004, they rented a small house which was used as an office; however they got their first official office later on. They were planning to go back to Harvard but they we’re doing better than expected so they decided to stay in California. They rejected offers by big companies, Zuckerberg explained in 2007 saying “It's not because of the amount of money. For me and my colleagues, the most important thing is that we create an open information flow for people. Having media corporations owned by conglomerates is just not an attractive idea to me”(Mark Zuckerberg, Wikipedia, 2011).
Now, I am going to talk about Facebook’s goals and objectives, it’s basically about connecting important things to other people, making things that help other people connect with each other, create a fast way for people to share about what’s happening around them. They think that Facebook would let them understand the world better and make it a better place to live in. Zuckerberg said "The thing I really care about is the mission, making the world open." (Mark Zuckerberg, Wikipedia, 2011).
In conclusion, you have to have a better point of view to the world and try your best to make it a better place, also you have to work hard as zuckerberg started his company with his roommates and ended up to be the youngest billionaire in 2008.
